Rob Piccard, WVSC
Director
Rob
Picard is originally from New Brunswick and has been snowboarding
since 1985. In '91, looking for bigger mountains and deeper
powder he made the voyage to Whistler, After spending a few
years coaching younger riders, Rob launched the Whistler Valley
Snowboard Club in 1997 and has been directing WVSC ever since.
Now with over 80 members and a dozen coaches on staff, the
WVSC has become the prime model for similar freeriding programs
and Rob's members frequently podium in the Provincial and
Natioanl competitions each year.
Although he still spends some time coaching during his 100+
days on the mountain, Rob also keeps his members and coaches
coordinated, organizes trips to contests, and shoots video
and stills for the annual WVSC video web page. In his spare
time Rob keeps the marketing and bookkeeping in order and
still manages to find time to explain/translate to parents
why little Johnny is suddenly obsessed with stomping that
rodeo 7 over the hut jump. When it comes to snowboarding, few
people have the passion and experience of Rob Picard.
